The Chartreuse is a small mountain massif prealpine, wild and little frequented. Located between the departments of Savoie and Isère, it is quickly accessible from Grenoble in the south, Chambéry in the east and Lyon in the northwest. From Lyon we will reach this massif by Saint Laurent du Pont.
Chartreuse massif isolated by the ancient Isère glacier Valley which split it off from Vercors massif in the South-West and from Belledonne range on the South-East. On the North-West, the Trouée des Marches, ancient glacier Valley too, split it off from Bauges massif.
Karsrtique, with many limestone anticlinal and synclinal sections, crests, gorges and deep canyons sculpted by water erosion, forests with various species, Chartreuse massif shelters wonderful speleology caves to discover.

Less than 45 minutes from Grenoble and One hour from Lyon, here are the three main speleologies caves to do in Chartreuse. We choose three routes that typically present the canyon in the massif:
6 to 8 hours of sporty caving
This adventure with an one hour approach walk to go and return from it is a serious undertaking. Be in good physical condition and have already practiced abseiling down for this course: several 93 ft down descents on rope to cross the Dent.
3 hours caving
A short crossing, an original route, where you follow the path of water flow. Very well to do with family and kids from 5 years old.
